Buddy of mine is messaging me for a little car help and goddamnit, it's frustrating.
He told me that nothing on the front of his car works. No high beams, no low beams, no front signals - he has tail lights, and rear signals.
I'm sitting here with a 2003 complete wiring diagram (gen was 2002-2009, so I'm hopeful) and I can't seem to find the single point of failure that would point to these circuits staying cold.
Anyone have any guesses? He's not a car guy, and is probably only able to visually check fuses. I'm guessing relay, but can't find any single one that would contribute to this.
*already downloaded the owner's manual - has no listing for relays. Grrr.

See if the relay clicks when he turns the light on. A test light or if possible a Power Probe will narrow this down real fast. I suspect the problem is in the light stalk itself, they stuff everything in there so it's usually that. A friend had to replace his on his Tacoma, it was intermittent, came back on after we checked the wiring but died totally later.

If I had the thing in front of me, I would be all over it with a multimeter and figure out where it dropped.
Unfortunately, it is not, and he's nowhere near it either. For all I know, what he told me isn't exactly accurate.

Since nothing works only in the front, it sounds like a harness is cut or disconnected somewhere. Look around the firewall or fender area for a sight of sheered cables. Find the fuse box and/or relay locations and follow the looms.

Yeah, that's one of the things I thought of too. I'll have him confirm everything he told me.
I'll have him do some homework and get back to me tomorrow.

So hard to internet diagnose but I can't resist.

Also, and a lot more likely, there maybe a bad ground connection somewhere in the front. Check for wires disconnected from a ground post/bolt.

When it seemed like the whole bus from the radiator forward went out I asked him, "What did you hit?" (along with a big bump or a curb) He said nothing happened.
I would blame the DRL controller, but it took down the signals, too. (sigh) only so much you can do over the phone when the car isn't in front of you, eh?
Thanks.
